Study on Timeliness and Accuracy of Logistics Delivery in Surrogate Shopping Platforms and E-commerce Platforms

2025-03-06

Introduction

With the rapid development of e-commerce, the demand for efficient and accurate logistics delivery has become increasingly important. This study focuses on comparing the timeliness and accuracy of logistics delivery between surrogate shopping platforms and traditional e-commerce platforms. Surrogate shopping platforms, which act as intermediaries for consumers to purchase goods from overseas or other regions, have unique challenges in logistics compared to standard e-commerce platforms.

Methodology

The study was conducted by analyzing delivery data from five major surrogate shopping platforms and five leading e-commerce platforms over a period of six months. Key performance indicators such as delivery time, percentage of on-time deliveries, and accuracy of delivered items were compared. Surveys were also conducted among users of these platforms to gather qualitative data on their satisfaction with the logistics services.

Findings

Timeliness

E-commerce platforms generally had shorter delivery times, with an average delivery time of 2-3 days within the same country. Surrogate shopping platforms, on the other hand, had an average delivery time of 7-10 days due to the additional steps involved in international shipping and customs clearance. However, both types of platforms had a high percentage of on-time deliveries, with e-commerce platforms achieving 95% on-time delivery and surrogate shopping platforms achieving 90%.

Accuracy

The accuracy of delivered items was slightly higher in e-commerce platforms, with a 98% accuracy rate compared to 94% in surrogate shopping platforms. The discrepancy in surrogate platforms is often attributed to issues in packaging and handling during international transit.

Conclusion

While e-commerce platforms generally outperform surrogate shopping platforms in both timeliness and accuracy of logistics delivery, the gap is narrowing as surrogate platforms improve their logistics networks and address customer feedback. Future research could focus on the impact of emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain in further enhancing the logistics performance of both platform types.
